Removing programs: Revo Uninstaller. How to get rid of most remnants of deleted programs in Windows at once How to get rid of traces of deleted programs

When we delete utilities, games and programs on the computer, the so-called “tails” of these programs remain in the system partition or disk. As a rule, these are empty folders, undeletable files, as well as unnecessary registry entries.

To remove “tails” or remnants of deleted programs, you need to use special utilities for cleaning the registry... But, it’s simpler and most correct to immediately remove the program and clean the registry in one action. But how can this be done? Answer: the free Uninstall Tool can handle this, it will do it in an instant. Let's look at how to remove remnants of deleted programs?

The Uninstall Tool has a fairly large list of languages, among which it is worth noting the presence of the Russian language. And the simple and intuitive interface of the utility will allow you to quickly, and most importantly, completely and without residue, remove a program or game on your computer that was previously installed.

When we launch the Uninstall Tool, we will see a list of programs installed on the PC, even those that were installed without your knowledge and are invisible to the standard capabilities of the Windows system. When you double-click on any entry, a deletion request will appear, after which the standard (that is, built into the program being deleted) deletion method will first start, and then the cleaning of leftovers and deleting old entries in the registry will begin. It is also worth noting that the Uninstall Tool will remove without leaving any remnants of the utility that Windows cannot remove if the files of the program being erased are “broken.” In a word, the Uninstall Tool is a comprehensive removal of programs and remnants or “tails” from them.

Installing the Uninstall Tool

There is no need to install the Uninstall Tool, as I suggest downloading the portable version, which does not require installation. All you need to do is download the zip file and unpack it to a convenient location on your computer. Next, run the UninstallTool.exe file and remove unnecessary utilities. For convenience, I put a shortcut on the “Desktop”, for those who don’t know how, look at the screenshot.

You can download the Uninstall Tool for free below, at the end of the article. Now I’ll show you an example of how to quickly uninstall a program on your computer.

Removing the program and its remnants

First, launch the Uninstall Tool. The program will show us the entire list of installed utilities and games.

Now select the desired program, I chose Pandora. Now double-click or right-click once and click “Uninstall”

If everything is fine, the wizard for removing and cleaning residues and tails will start, but it happens that normal removal is impossible and an error pops up.

It would seem, well, it’s impossible to delete, but that’s not the case... Again, click the right mouse button once and select another item - “Forced deletion”

This window will appear, naturally we agree...

And here are the found remains, “tails” and registry entries from Pandora Service. Click “Delete”

As a result, we get a successful operation as in the picture

That's all, as you can see, nothing complicated! But if you accidentally deleted photos or necessary files on a memory card or computer, then do not lose heart, because you can easily return them and restore files even after emptying the recycle bin using a program for recovering deleted files. And for Android smartphones, file recovery is available without a PC, but you need root rights.

How to get rid of most of the remnants of uninstalled programs in Windows at once We recommend

Anton Maksimov, 06/13/2017 (updated 08/09/2017)

Where are the remains of deleted programs stored and how to remove them

According to Microsoft requirements, working program files must be stored in the %appdata% and %localappdata% folders of the Windows user profile. Accordingly, you need to look for the remains there.

You can stock up on a little patience, sit down and figure out which folder belongs to which application. Or you can do it much simpler - create a new profile and transfer all work files to it (documents, music, videos, photos). In the end, all that remains is to delete the old profile, and with it all remnants of programs that were deleted earlier.

This will save a significant amount of time. Plus, you will save yourself from accidental mistakes, because the system itself will create a profile in the required form. Of course, it will delete the old profile correctly. Your task is to completely transfer personal files from one profile to another.

After a few days, only those programs that you already have installed and use will retain their settings in the new profile.

Removing residues

Create a new account

To start working on cleaning up the balances, you need to create a fresh account that will not contain any settings. To do this, you need to open the “Control Panel” and select “User Accounts” in it.

A window will open with a list of available accounts. There you need to click on the “Create an account” link.

Having set a name for the new account, select its type (User or Administrator) and click on the “Save account” button.

After this, the list of accounts will be added to by one. You can proceed to the next step - data transfer.

Transferring data to a new account

Before you begin transferring your personal data, you must switch to the new account. When switching, the operating system will create a new profile from scratch and put all the basic elements into it.

To switch to a new account, click “Start” - the arrow to the right of “Shut down” - “Log out”. In the user selection window, you need to click on the new account.

To start transferring data between accounts, you need to open two Explorer windows and place them next to each other. In the left window, open the folder with the old profile, and in the right window, open the folder with the new profile. The old and new profiles are located on the system drive in the “Users” folder. It's hard to miss.

Consistently transfer data from personal folders from the old profile to the new one. First “Documents”, then “Images”, then “Videos” and “Photos”.

If you store personal data in other folders outside the user profile, then there is no need to transfer it.

Deleting an old account

To delete your old account, you must once again make sure that all data has been transferred to the new profile. After this we do the following:

  • Open “Control Panel” - “User Accounts”
  • Managing another account
  • Select the old account
  • Deleting an account

In the confirmation window, click on the “Delete files” button

This completes the process of removing residues. Now you need to set up a new profile for yourself and work as before, but with a clean account.

What to pay attention to

When using this method of removing leftovers from deleted programs, you should pay attention to a number of features that can be extremely important.

  • Some programs (for example, Dropbox) are installed entirely in the %appdata% folder, so you will have to reinstall them again.
  • The settings of some programs may be reset or data saved to the old profile. Therefore, it is recommended to check the settings and change the paths to indicate the path to the new account.
  • After switching to a new account, you may need additional configuration for switching layouts (if you do not use the standard option).

Otherwise, everything works as normal and no additional movements are required.

Conclusion

After all the manipulations with my computer, I managed to free up more than 20 GB of disk space, which I am incredibly happy about.

It is also worth noting that there is also an All Users folder, which stores application settings for all users (shared folder). To understand the data in it, I had to sit down and go through all the folders manually, deleting unnecessary ones. What saved me was that in my case there were very few of them.

You can similarly remove leftovers in other versions of Windows (XP-10).

Uninstalling programs: Revo Uninstaller

Hello my dear friend.

Each of us has many programs and utilities installed on our computer that perform certain tasks.

Along with installing programs on a computer, we quite often remove programs.

Programs are removed using so-called uninstallers. Usually the uninstaller is already provided by the program developer himself.

This file is located in the folder with the program, called uninstall.exe or uninstaller.exe.

Accordingly, you can remove the program by directly clicking on this file or through the control panel, programs and uninstall programs.

Uninstalling programs

In this case, the system still accesses the same uninstall.exe files of this or that program that we want to remove.

However, after removal using standard means, very often “tails” remain after programs. These program remnants clog the Windows registry with unnecessary data. As a result, it “swells”, which leads to slower system performance.

However, there is a solution to this problem. This is to use a special uninstaller program to remove a particular program from the hard drive and delete entries of the uninstalled program from the system registry.

We will look at one of the best programs in this class - a utility called Revo Uninstaller.

It is completely free and has a Russian user interface. (You can download the program here http://www.softportal.com/get-6084-revo-uninstaller.html).

After you run the executive file, select Russian.

Revo Uninstaller

After installation, the following window will open in front of you:

The first section, Uninstaller, lists all installed programs.

Revo Uninstaller main window

We can right-click on any program shortcut to open a context menu.

Uninstalling a program

There we can delete the program (Delete option) or simply remove the program from the list of installed ones using the Delete entry option (in this case, the program will not be physically removed).

The Open registry key option opens entries related to this program in the system registry.

Installation location opens the folder where the program is installed.

To completely remove the program without any “tails”, select the remove option and click ok in the next window.

Let's look at other features of the program.

The Tools section provides us with additional tools for working with programs.

Autorun manager:

Startup manager Revo Uninstaller

This tool allows you to enable, disable and remove programs from startup.

Autorun programs are programs that automatically start when you start the Windows operating system. Such programs can be system (drivers, services) and user, when certain programs are registered in autostart (for example, the Skype messaging program)

Windows Tools:

Windows Tools

Provides access to important Windows settings. For example, disk defragmentation or system information.

Junk file cleaner:

File Cleaner

Allows you to delete so-called temporary files from hard drives. Temporary files appear when programs are running and very often are not automatically deleted when they are closed (closing programs).

To search for such files, you need to click on the “Scan” button

I also advise you to go to the settings (the settings button at the top of the window) before deleting temporary files and check the “Delete files in the trash” checkbox. Thus, if the system works stably after deleting temporary files, then the recycle bin can be safely emptied.

Revo Uninstaller Settings

You will also see a list of temporary file extensions - it is better not to go into it and not change anything there.

Trace Cleaner

Here are tools that remove traces of your computer activity.

For example, they delete your browsing history in your browser or delete data and files beyond recovery. I will not particularly consider these tools, since the average user, as a rule, does not need them.

I would also like to separately mention a very interesting program option.

It's called "Hunter Mode".

When you click on this button at the top of the window, a target appears. You can point this target at any program (just left-click on it and move in the desired direction without releasing the button) to delete it, or delete unnecessary shortcuts on the desktop. You can also drag and drop shortcuts onto the target instead of pointing.

To return to the normal program window, right-click on the target and select “Open main window.”

The review of the Revo Uninstaller program has come to an end.

There is also a paid version of the program - Revo Uninstaller Pro.

It has more options and goodies, but the free version also copes with its tasks and is also easy to use.

Now you can very easily remove programs without leaving “tails” on your hard drive and in the system registry. This fact will have a positive effect on the operation of Windows.

P.S. Leave your comments below. Tell us about your ideas for future video lessons, articles and notes.

Also share the note with your friends and acquaintances.

The more people know about me, the bigger my project will become, and the easier it will be for it to develop.

Good computer knowledge to you.

Best regards, Artem.

Soft Organizer - removes unnecessary programs and their remains

≡ 3 July 2016 · Category: Computer programs · 1,236 Views

I continue to introduce all subscribers and casual visitors to my blog to new and interesting applications for working with a computer. Today I present to your attention Soft Organizer - it will remove unnecessary programs and their remains. Moreover! It will help you remove an uninstallable program! Shows which installed utilities on your PC are unnecessary. Will constantly monitor the installation process of new software, as well as monitor the release of their updates.

Soft Organizer

Why Soft Organizer? This is a very serious, I’m not afraid of such a word as a powerful uninstaller, it will significantly destroy everything that usually remains - folders, logs, saves, registry entries, etc., when using standard Windows utilities.

Why Soft Organizer? This is a very serious, I’m not afraid of the word, powerful uninstaller, it will significantly destroy everything that usually remains - folders, logs, saves, registry entries, etc., when using standard Windows utilities.

I would even put Soft Organizer on a par with Revo Uninstaller, Reg Organizer (by the way, like S.O., the developer is Konstantin Polyakov) and Uninstall Tool.

P.S.: Yes, previously, before characteristic changes were made to the functionality of the product, it was called Full Uninstall.

After downloading and subsequent installation, run (if this does not happen automatically) the utility.

As you can see, the interface is quite simple and intuitive. The application is very convenient and comfortable to work with.

The main menu is located on the left side.

In order to remove a program from your computer, select the required one in the right window with the mouse and click the corresponding button (I have highlighted it in red in the screenshot).

Yes, as soon as an application is marked, information about it, “Traces in the system”, “Registry entries”, will be displayed at the top.

To display the full list, you must click the corresponding “Show all traces” link.

So, after pressing the button, 3 stages of removal will follow - “Standard”, “Search for traces” and “Erasing traces”.

But first there will be an analysis.

Then "Standard" will start. That is, the process will be performed by a regular Windows uninstaller. Upon completion, we will be asked to find residual files on the system.

Of course, we agree and, to confirm this, click on “Find”.

The system scan will begin. This usually doesn't take much time.

At the end of the procedure, we will be presented with a report and the opportunity to remove all remaining garbage from the system.

Searching for program remains

For example, you previously used a completely different uninstaller. And you want to make sure that the software that you destroyed earlier has completely disappeared from your computer. This is why the “Traces of already deleted programs” function exists. Feel free to click on the name and start scanning.

My search turned up no results, which is good! Perhaps your case will have the same positive outcome as mine.

Or the window will provide a list of utilities that were previously installed on the PC.

In this case, as you might guess, you need to select the necessary checkboxes and press the corresponding green button.

How to make a backup

In case some incorrect actions were performed on your part, the necessary utility was erased, for example. Everything can be restored easily. To do this, in the lower right corner, click on “Undo Changes Center”.

Open it. Mark the important details and click “Cancel Change”.

Download Soft Organizer for free

You can from the official website of the developer.

Conclusion

Without false modesty, I can say that this utility is an indispensable assistant for any user. After all, a “clean” computer is the key to productive work, strength and nerves.

Cleaning the registry, temporary files and “traces” after uninstalling programs - Sys.Admin Notes

We all, I think, know that while working on a computer (especially one connected to the Internet), willy-nilly, all sorts of garbage accumulates on it (the word “garbage” has nothing to do with the police :)), which slows down the system, is the cause of errors and failures, and generally takes up precious space on the hard drive, in the registry and who knows where else.

Therefore, in this material, I will tell you how to clean the registry, quickly delete temporary files (Temp, Temporary Internet Files, Cookies, etc.), as well as any “junk” left behind by deleted programs or generated during their operation. After this process, of course, an increase in free space on the hard drive is guaranteed, and in general an easy improvement in the operation of the system, as well as getting rid of a number of typical problems/errors or the possibility of their occurrence.

Let's get started.

For cleaning the registry, the moderately old, but very working, sensible and good program Regseeker is perfect. One of the latest versions (numbered 2.55) which you can download directly from this link (uploaded specifically by me - use it;)).

The program is a tweaker (customizer), as well as a cleaner for Windows. However, in addition to this, this miracle of programmer thought has a number of other typical (for example, deleting programs), but no less useful buns. Actually, if you are interested, you can delve into the settings and functions of the program yourself, but for now we are only interested in its ability to clean the registry.

No program installation required. Just download the archive, unzip it to any location convenient for you, and then run the RegSeeker.exe file from the folder where you unzipped it.

The new versions finally have support for the Russian language, so you can safely click on the “Languages” button in the upper right corner of the program and choose, in fact, your favorite one.

When everything is over, all we have to do is select “Select - Select all”, and then “Actions - Delete selected elements”.

At the last stage, i.e. before immediate deletion, you will be asked to specify a name for the backup copy (for this, the “Backup” checkbox should be checked in the lower left corner). Set, click "OK" and enjoy a clean system :)

Note: There are registry entries that are not garbage as such, but due to the fact that they are created by the system as temporary\auxiliary, they are perceived by RegSeeker as something like an unnecessary cache. Therefore, even if you run RegSeeker immediately after cleaning, it will again find the auxiliaries just recreated by the system. In short, you don’t need to run RegSeeker 10 times a day because of them. Running it once every month or two is enough to remove real garbage.

If suddenly (albeit practically unrealistic, because the program works very stably, but you never know) something goes wrong, then in the program window we select the “Backup” tab, where we see all the created backups.

Select the last one (or just the one you need, if there are already several of them) and use the “Restore” button. That's all.

In general, Regseeker is a very powerful tool for cleaning the registry, but if you are interested in how to clean the registry even more powerfully and better, then you can familiarize yourself with this program, or better yet, with the products of the Wise company, which I wrote about in the article “Cleaning the Registry” and cleaning your hard drive from junk X2"

For those who did not see the note above, I will repeat that many try to run the scan again immediately and again find many registry entries, after which they run away with the question: “why are they not cleared?” The answer is simple - there are registry entries that are not garbage as such, but due to the fact that they are created by the system as temporary/auxiliary, they are perceived by RegSeeker as something like an unnecessary cache. Therefore, even if you start scanning immediately after cleaning, it will again find the “auxiliaries” just recreated by the system. In short, you don’t need to “muddle” the program 10 times a day because of them, but running it once a month (or a couple of weeks) is enough to remove real garbage.

Back to contents

Cleaning up junk using CCleaner. Removing Temp, cache, all other temporary files and “tails” after deleted programs.

For all this, as you already understood from the obvious subtitle, we will need the Ccleaner program, which is very popular on the Internet, which is a kind of turbo broom for cleaning the unfortunate coughing Windows from all sorts of nasty things.

You can download, as always, directly from my website from here or from the official website using this link (in this case, after following the link, you will need to select one of three download sources - see the picture at this link).

Regarding the installation... In general, everything is simple, but just in case, I will describe the process in detail, namely:

By the way, if suddenly in some versions you are required to install additional programs, panels, and other things, feel free to refuse. This happens and something useful rarely comes out of it.

As for use, everything is quite simple here:

However, no, I recently came across a powerful plugin that makes cleaning with CCleaner even more powerful and high-quality. You can read the article “Expanding the capabilities of CCleaner and cleaning the system even more powerfully.”

PS: By the way, in addition to those already mentioned in this material, there is another article on cleaning the system and registry, namely “Cleaning up garbage, registry, etc.” And in general, you can find all of them on the website under the tag #cleaning garbage from the registry and PS2 system: Also, I strongly recommend that you read the material called “We completely remove any programs.” This will greatly help you in efficiently and correctly removing unnecessary programs.

Buttons click, settings sliders move, and then the picture becomes clearer. What needs to be done with the software: execute it, that is, uninstall it, or pardon it, leave it in the depths of a computer or laptop.

This guide will tell you how to completely remove a program from your computer using utilities and manually.

Method No. 1: manual cleaning

Running the uninstaller

Almost every program has an uninstaller in its directory (folder) - a file usually named “uninstall”, “uninstaller”, etc. It is designed to remove application elements from the operating system (file directories and registry).

To run the program uninstaller, follow these instructions:

1. In the taskbar (the strip with buttons at the bottom of the display), click the “Windows” icon.

2. In the Start menu that appears, click “Control Panel.”

3. Set the “View” setting to “Category”.

4. Click the “Uninstall a program” section.

5. In the installed software directory, click the left button to select the application to be deleted.

6. Follow the instructions of the uninstaller that opens (if necessary, click the “OK”, “Next”, “Delete”, etc. buttons).

You can also run the Uninstall module directly from the Start menu (without going to Control Panel):

1. Click: “Windows” button → “All programs”.

2. Click to open the folder of the required program.

3. Click on the item in the list called “Delete...”, “Removing...” or “Uninstall”.

If you cannot find the uninstaller either in the “Uninstall a program” section or in the “Start” menu, do this:

1. Right-click on the application shortcut on your desktop.

2. Select “Properties” from the context menu.

3. In the properties panel, click the "File Location" button.

4. In the program directory that opens, find and run the uninstaller.

Well, if there is no shortcut on the desktop, look at the “Program Files” and “Program Files (x86)” folders. Often, by default, applications are installed in these directories.

Removing entries from the registry

To remove software keys remaining after uninstallation from the registry, perform the following operations:

1. Open the Run panel by pressing the Win + R key combination.

2. Type the command - regedit (registry editor) in the line.

3. Click OK.

4. In the menu, click: Edit → Find.

5. In the “Search” window, enter the name of the remote program and click “Find Next”.

6. Delete the found key here (via the registry editor): right-click on the key → click “Delete” in the list.

7. Resume searching for entries in directories by pressing the “F3” key. Or go to the menu: Edit → Find Next.

8. Perform the scan until a message appears indicating that the entire registry has been scanned.

Deleting files

To get rid of the remaining folders and files of a deleted program:

1. Press the key combination “Win + E”.

2. Go to the “Disk C” section.

3. In the upper right corner of the window, in the “Search” field, type the name of the application that was uninstalled from the system.

4. Press "Enter".

5. Get rid of detected elements through the context menu: right mouse button → Delete.

If an object cannot be removed, try getting rid of it using the iObit Unlocker program.

After installing it, also open the context menu and select the utility icon in the list. And then in the window that opens, select “Unblock and delete” in the drop-down list and run the selected command.

Disabling system programs

Programs installed with Windows - Internet Explorer, a game package (Solitaire, Spider), etc. cannot be removed using the standard function. But you can disable them: they will be present in the system, but will not be displayed in the interface or launched.

1. Click: Start → Control Panel → Uninstall a program → Turn features on or off.

2. Click the mouse to remove the checkmarks next to the applications that you want to disable.

3. Click OK.

4. Wait until the procedure is completed, close the window.

Method No. 2: cleaning with uninstaller utilities

The algorithm for automatic uninstallation and removal of application remnants using uninstaller utilities boils down to the following:

1. Launch the built-in uninstaller.

2. Standard removal provided by the program.

3. Search for elements (files, registry keys) remaining after uninstallation and delete them.

The following solutions are most popular among PC users:

An easy-to-use yet powerful tool for cleaning Windows from unnecessary software. Quickly and accurately finds all remnants of deleted software. Has a “Force deletion” function.

Supports batch uninstallation: automatic sequential uninstallation of several programs.

A paid product with a large number of functions for cleaning hard drive partitions and system directories from useless elements, and optimizing the registry. Launches program removal with one click. It has the most user-friendly interface.

A faithful assistant in the most difficult cases of cleaning the OS from unnecessary applications. Distributed conditionally free of charge (test version - 30 days). It is endowed with advanced and lightning-fast algorithms for searching for remaining objects of uninstalled programs. Performs cleaning efficiently and meticulously.

Attention! Antiviruses

If you are faced with the task of removing an antivirus, first of all, ask on the official website of the developers whether there is a special utility for removing it. It will greatly simplify the uninstallation process and significantly save your time.

Successful Windows cleaning!

How to remove an incompletely deleted program and its traces.

From time to time, users encounter a problem when, after uninstalling a program, its remnants interfere with the operation of other programs or even the operating system.

This problem can manifest itself in different ways. For example, when installing a new version or program from another manufacturer, a message may appear that an old version (or a product from another manufacturer) was found on the computer, after which the installation process is interrupted. There are also cases when, after deleting a program, the context menu items of the deleted program remain in the Explorer context menu. Trying to run them results in an error.

This is due to the fact that there are traces (remnants) of the deleted program in the system, which interfere with work. They can be located both in the system registry and on disks.

Most often, antivirus users encounter this when, when switching from one antivirus package to another, a message appears stating that a version from another manufacturer is already installed on the computer. After this message, the installation process is interrupted.

How to correct the situation and remove the incorrectly deleted program?

Checking the list of installed programs

First, we need to make sure that we really uninstalled the program. Although this is an obvious step, there are times when an app next to it in the list is mistakenly deleted. To eliminate this misunderstanding, you just need to check the list again.

To do this, launch the program removal tool and try to find there the name of the application that we want to remove. If it is not there, then move on.

We are looking for special removal utilities from manufacturers

When it comes to antiviruses or security tools, the developers of such programs often create specialized utilities to completely remove their own products. As a rule, they are called something like this: %AntivirusName% Removal Tool. Instead of %AntivirusName% you need to substitute the name of the antivirus product.

Such utilities are precisely designed to completely remove a product from the system. And antivirus developers try to keep such products up to date, because users often need them. They are the ones that are recommended to be used first if you want to remove the antivirus solution completely.

Below is a list of links to such utilities for several popular antivirus solutions.

Removing remnants of deleted programs in the Reg Organizer uninstaller

If we are not talking about antiviruses, but about a simple application program, then there is a chance that data on traces (residues) is available in the database of the program removal tool in Reg Organizer.

To do this, launch Reg Organizer and go to the uninstall tool. On the left side panel there will be an item “Traces of already deleted programs”.

If after the name of the item you see a non-zero value in brackets, then the Reg Organizer utility managed to find the remains of some programs. Check to see if the program you want to remove is among them.

If deleting remnants through Reg Organizer did not help or remnants for the program you needed were not found, then go to the next point.

Manually searching for leftovers on the disk

Now let's move on to manual methods of searching for residues. First, let's check the disks for traces of the program that we want to completely remove from the system. To do this, we will use regular Explorer (or any other file manager convenient for you).

C:\Program Files\ and C:\Program Files (x86)\

These folders store the main working application files.

We need to find and delete the folder with the program name. Just sequentially go through the folders in Program Files and when you find the one you need, delete it.

When doing this, you need to remember the name of the manufacturer of the product, because sometimes they place program folders in a shared folder with the name of the manufacturer.

%AppData% and %LocalAppData%

These folders are used to store files that are created while the application is running. These could be configuration files for your system, logs, and more.

To open them, just enter %appdata% or %localappdata% in the address bar of Explorer and press Enter. The operating system will automatically redirect you to the appropriate disk folder in your user profile.

We open the %appdata% and %localappdata% folders sequentially in Explorer and look inside these folders for the name of the manufacturer or directly the name of the product whose remains we want to delete.

Most often, AppData/LocalAppData first contains a folder with the name of the manufacturing company, and already in it there is a folder with the name of the product itself.

Some programs are installed entirely in %AppData% instead of Program Files.

Once you have found the product name folders in AppData/LocalAppData, simply delete them.

Manually searching for traces in the registry using Reg Organizer

In the system registry you can also find many traces of programs that were deleted a long time ago. To find them, launch Reg Organizer and select the “Registry Editor” tool.

In the upper right corner there is a line for entering a search query. There we will enter the name of the program or the name of the manufacturer. But first we need to set up the search so as not to get a mountain of unnecessary keys, among which it will be difficult to find anything.

Open the search settings and leave a checkmark only opposite the “Key names” item in the “Where to search” block. This will give the program a command to look for matches only in the names of the keys, which will significantly reduce the number of entries in the search results and simplify working with them.

As soon as the settings are changed, enter a search query in the form of the name of the manufacturer or the name of the program (it is better to start with the first) and start the search.

As a result, you will receive a small list of registry keys, the names of which contain the name of the manufacturer's company or the name of the program itself. You need to find those that satisfy the following construction:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ %Company name%\%The name of the program%

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node\ %Company name%\%The name of the program%

HKEY_USERS\%NUMBER-WITH-HYPHEN%\Software\ %Company name%\%The name of the program%

HKEY_USERS\%NUMBER-HYPHEN%\Software\W OW6432Node\ %Company name%\%The name of the program%

Designations:

%Company name%— the name of the company that produced the program, the remains of which need to be removed. Doesn't always exist. Instead, there may be a %Program Name% field.

%The name of the program%— the name of the program whose remains need to be removed.

%NUMBER-WITH-HYPHENS%— user identifier in the HKEY_USERS key.

Those keys that satisfy the above structures must be checked and deleted using the context menu (called with the right mouse button).

You can also check and, if detected, remove references to the remote program in the keys located at the following addresses:

\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersi on\Uninstall\

\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\C urrentVersion\Uninstall\

Deleting data through the Reg Organizer registry editor requires the creation of a backup copy, which, if necessary, can be restored through the “Undo Changes Center”, which launches in the lower right corner of the main window.

Automatic registry cleaning in Reg Organizer

The last step in searching for traces of a deleted program in the registry is automatic cleaning using Reg Organizer. The utility analyzes key registry sections and looks for references to non-existent/deleted files in order to then correctly delete them.

This is useful in cases where the remote program is recorded in startup, context menu, file extension associations, and other similar sections.

Registry cleaning is carried out completely automatically and therefore does not require user intervention. You just need to be patient while the utility conducts a deep analysis of the system registry in search of links to deleted files and folders.

When deleting keys while cleaning the registry, Reg Organizer automatically creates a backup copy of the deleted data, which can be restored if necessary through the “Undo Changes Center” (opens in the lower right corner of the main program window).

This procedure is performed last. This is due to the fact that it searches for links to deleted files. If you first clean the registry and then delete files, traces will remain in the menu, startup and other places, since the files were present on the disk at the time of cleaning the registry.

Have you ever been tormented by the question: “Why is there so little free space on my computer, since I recently deleted all unnecessary programs?” And the answer to it is very simple: because half of them... remained in place. During normal demolition of software using Windows, garbage is always left behind. And if you don’t remove it, there will someday be nowhere to install new programs.

How to get rid of the “tails” of demolished software? Using “program uninstallers” that completely clean the system of remaining files, folders and registry entries. Here's a quick look at the eight best of them.

– an easy-to-use, reliable and safe tool for removing programs and their traces from operating systems of the Windows family. Perhaps its main advantage is the balance of functionality and simplicity. A clear Russian-language interface, convenient systematization of tasks, and optimal default settings encourage not only beginners, but also experienced Windows users to choose this tool.

The program is available in two versions - Free (free) and Pro (paid, annual subscription costs 499 rubles). To quickly and completely clean your computer of unnecessary applications, including system ones, the free version is enough. The paid version is useful for those who want to partially delegate antivirus functions to IObit Uninstaller and automate the update of installed software.

Features of IObit Uninstaller:

  • Single and batch uninstallation of third-party and system Windows applications (Microsoft Pay, Microsoft Wi-Fi, Xbox, etc.) without administrator rights.
  • Cleaning up registry entries, files and folders remaining after deletion.
  • Removing browser plugins and extensions.
  • Creating restore points and rolling back to them in case of erroneous actions.
  • Installing software updates (in the free version - manually, in the paid version - automatically).
  • Forced uninstallation of software that cannot be removed in the usual way, for example, due to the lack of its own uninstall module.
  • File shredder.
  • Removing shortcuts, Windows cache patches and other garbage that remains after a standard uninstallation.
  • Removing Windows updates.
  • Cleaning the system of associated modules and plugins when uninstalling the main program (in the Pro version).
  • Search and removal of malware and adware (in the Pro version).
  • Removing particularly stubborn programs that have an uninstallation protection function (in the Pro version).

– another powerful tool for cleaning your computer from unnecessary software and its remnants. In addition to the functions of the uninstaller, it is equipped with a rich set of optimization tools, which includes a startup manager, a quick access panel to system utilities, as well as 6 additional “cleaners”.

Like the IObit product, Revo Uninstaller comes in free and paid versions ($24.95-29.95). Both have an installation and portable format. The portable version opens in English by default. To switch it to Russian, you need to enter the “Options” section and select “Russian” from the “Current Language” list.

Other features of Revo Uninstaller:

  • 3 levels of disk scanning depth for registry entries, folders and files remaining after uninstallation.
  • Automatic creation of a restore point.
  • Browser cleaner (removing cache, cookies, history, temporary files).
  • MS Office document opening history cleaner.
  • Windows cleaner (traces of opening files, folders, menus, search history, logs, recycle bin, caches, etc.).
  • A junk data cleaner (objects that are no longer used by programs).
  • Removing “evidence” (completely erasing files and folders deleted by system means).
  • Fatal deletion (file shredder).

Pro version only:

  • Uninstalling system applications and browser extensions.
  • Forced removal of uninstallable programs.
  • Deep cleaning of remnants of previously removed software.
  • Fast and batch uninstallation.
  • Monitoring system changes in real time (subject to autostart and background operation).
  • Data backup, including a full registry backup.
  • Export and print information about installed programs.
  • Control using console commands.

In addition to the Windows version, Revo Uninstaller is available as a free mobile application for Android.

– a lightweight, portable utility with a modest (in comparison with the monsters described above) set of functions. However, everything necessary to remove programs and clean up their “tails” is present in it.

The Geek Uninstaller interface has been translated into many languages, including Russian. It is represented by a single window with a list of installed software, and all available functions are collected in the “Actions” menu.

Possible operations in the free version of Geek Uninstaller:

  • Uninstalling third-party and system applications Windows 10.
  • Cleaning up remaining registry entries, files and folders.
  • Forced uninstallation.
  • Search for the selected program in the registry and in Explorer.
  • Open the app's website and search Google for details about it.

The paid version ($24.95) additionally adds the following features:

  • Real-time monitoring of installed programs and the changes they make to the system.
  • Process management.
  • Batch uninstallation.
  • Deep cleaning of deleted software remnants.

Please note that Geek Uninstaller does not create system restore points. If you are afraid that the utility may disrupt the functioning of Windows, create them manually.

is a tool from the Wise Cleaner system cleaning and optimization toolkit. The key features of this product are its simplicity and low hardware requirements, which makes it convenient for servicing old and low-performance machines.

Although the utility has the minimum functionality required for its tasks, it works smoothly and quickly. It is available in installation and portable versions, both translated into Russian.

To make it easier to find the necessary, or rather, unnecessary applications, the Wise Program Uninstaller window is divided into several tabs: all programs, only third-party programs (desktop), only from the Windows Store (universal), and system and software updates.

Wise Program Uninstaller features:

  • 3 uninstallation methods: safe (regular), “smart” (recommended to use if the safe one does not work) and custom (with complete removal of traces and remaining files that the user selects manually).
  • Modification and correction of installation errors of programs using their own means (running the installer in the “Repair” or “Modify” mode).
  • Displaying user ratings of installed software (allows you to quickly find unreliable objects). Possibility to give your own ratings.
  • Selective removal of Windows updates and applications.

The installation version of Wise Program Uninstaller integrates its launch command into Windows Explorer. With its help, you can remove applications directly from the context menu of their shortcuts.

- another uninstallation monster, comparable in its set of capabilities to the classics of the genre - Revo Uninstaller and IObit Uninstaller. The utility is very functional and convenient; using it is a pleasure, but you will have to pay for it. Unfortunately, there is no free version of Ashampoo Uninstaller. There is only a 10-day trial, which can be extended for another 10 days. Purchasing a license will cost $20.

The strength of Ashampoo Uninstaller is the ability to remove not only classic software, but also browser plugins, extensions, panels and other garbage that slows down the opening of web pages and interferes with comfortable web surfing. Finding such objects among installed programs is quite easy - they usually have a low user rating.

Other functions and features of Ashampoo Uninstaller:

  • Improved algorithm for finding remnants of deleted applications.
  • Keeping software installation logs (for a more complete cleaning of the system in case of uninstallation).
  • Process activity monitoring.
  • Creating profiles even for programs whose installation was not controlled.
  • Creating snapshots (snapshots of the state) of the system with the ability to compare them with each other.
  • Uninstalling Windows updates.
  • Display user ratings of applications to quickly find unreliable ones.
  • Convenient classification of software according to several characteristics: with a bad rating, with an installation log, large, recent, deleted (based on log data).
  • A separate grouping of programs from the Windows store and those built into the system (standard).
  • Additional tools: Disk cleaner, Registry optimizer, Internet trace cleaner, System and software boot accelerator, Service manager, Tools for recovering deleted files and correcting file associations, Complete removal of confidential data (shredder), Backup management module.

Unlike its competitors, Ashampoo Uninstaller only supports modern versions of the system, starting from Windows 7. It cannot work on older versions.

is another fully paid uninstaller with a 30-day trial period. It costs a little less than Ashampoo Uninstaller, but its capabilities are noticeably more modest. In addition to solving the main task - removing software with stripping the “tails”, it can control startup and monitor installations.

The Uninstall Tool is available in installation and portable versions. The first costs 1,495 rubles per copy, the second is 1,000 rubles more expensive. Among the languages available in the utility are Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian.

Uninstall Tool Features

  • Simple and forced uninstallation with clearing traces.
  • Convenient division of applications into tabs: all, system (including updates), hidden, from the Windows Store and tracked.
  • Displays the date and location of installation of programs, the registry keys they created and the official websites of developers. Google search.
  • Displays software autorun status with the ability to enable or disable automatic loading.
  • Displays the activity of programs that are in autorun.

Before uninstallation, the Uninstall Tool does not create restore points, and if you are concerned about the performance of the system, create them manually.

Also in the recent past it was completely paid, but now the version with basic functionality can be used for free. If we compare the free Soft Organizer with what other developers offer, its capabilities are impressive: this utility can do even more than some commercial products.

However, the paid Pro version also does not burden the budget. A license for one user costs 360 rubles, for a family (up to five computers) - 480 rubles.

Soft Organizer features:

  • Uninstallation of third-party and universal (pre-installed and downloaded from the Windows store) software with removal of traces.
  • Automatic backup before cleaning traces of removed software.
  • Cancel changes introduced by the utility.
  • Batch uninstallation.
  • Sorting the list of programs according to several parameters: new, large, frequently deleted. Custom grouping by developer, size, tracking status and age.
  • Display user rating of software.
  • Quick search by fragment of the application name.
  • Export a list of installed software to an HTML file.
  • Detection of remnants of previously uninstalled programs (Pro).
  • Installation monitoring (Pro).
  • Installation of software in silent - automatic mode (Pro).
  • Automatically checks and installs the latest versions of installed programs (Pro).

Soft Organizer is, of course, a worthy product, but the paid functions section, which takes up about a quarter of the main window in the free version, does not create a very good impression.

— a paid product with a 30-day trial period. Simple, Russian-language, with support for desktop and server Windows operating systems, including outdated ones. The range of its capabilities is practically no different from analogues of other developers, but the interface... The main window is divided into two halves. On the left is a detailed list of installed software. On the right - all the changes that the selected program has made to the system, in the form of a tree of folders and registry entries. Very clear and informative. A beautiful picture is good, but useful information in the foreground is better.

The utility is intended for the home and corporate segments. The minimum lifetime license costs €19.95, the maximum €249.95.

Total Uninstall features:

  • 2 operating modes: uninstallation of programs without preliminary tracking and with tracking.
  • Backup and restore from copies.
  • Running in a virtual environment.
  • Creating and comparing snapshots.
  • Autorun control.
  • Transferring installed software from one computer to another.
  • Export the registry, changes, list of installed and monitored software.
  • Creation of user profiles.
  • Control of some functions using console commands.
  • Maintaining detailed logs of software installations and removals.

The availability of certain Total Uninstall functions depends on the license type.
